Comet EP released (sort of)

So it's deepest winter and time for me to show some gratitude and appreciation for everyone who supports me.  I just dropped a cheeky EP into the inboxes of everyone who subscribes to the Primorph Press. If you aren't subscribed and would like to listen, no problem, just go sign up and it'll be your welcome gift.

The EP is a deep departure from my usual fare, it's basically made up of bits and bobs that were lying around on the cutting room floor after the album was narrowed down to it's final form. I thought they were too good to discard but probably didn't merit a full release on their own so I figured I'd give them a polish and send them your way. Think of it as a mellow musing in synth.

I hope you enjoy.

Bittersweet news

So... It’s with regret that we must announce Primorph’s debut album is to be delayed until Q1 2018. But wait! This is for a variety of reasons.

Firstly and most importantly, it’s because the album has grown slightly in the making. Lately we’ve added two new tracks to the roster which - we feel - are necessary to fill gaps in the existing running order. You see, the album just hadn’t been sitting right with us and these new tracks make it flow much better.

Secondly, it must be said that it’s REALLY hard putting together a full length album when one has to dedicate so much time to a day job. Since we're both freelancers in our fields by day and have had projects coming out our ears this year, there was a real danger of us suffering creative fatigue and producing sub-standard work for this album. We didn’t want that. So basically it means waiting a few months longer for a bigger and better album.

In the extra time we have before release, we've been busy working on our first full music video and getting our Youtube channel up and running so we can host future content there.

Also, since the album is delayed, we have a little free time to work on some as-yet incomplete projects that have been lying around. In light of the news we've decided to give you a present to celebrate the holiday season and thank you all for supporting us, in the form of a FREE EP! There'll be more news on this to come in the very near future, but in the meantime here's the cover art to sink your eyes into:

Keep an eye on our social media for full release details or you can sign up to the mailing list to stay updated from here: Primorph mailing list.

Anyway. Sorry for the delay and thanks for your patience. We promise it'll be worth it.

Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated

Well. It's been a while since I wrote anything.... There is a good reason for that. I've been locked in a darkened room, working feverishly on my debut, full length album. It's now VERY close to being finished.

Now that I have a bit of breathing room from all that lovely mixing, mastering and crippling self doubt it's time to focus on releasing the thing.

The next few weeks will be about crossing "i"s and dotting "t"s with music and artwork and then I'll be looking to announce my intended release date along with a taster of the fruits of my efforts...

So, keep your ear to the ground and there should be some Primorphy rumblings coming your way soon!

Watermelon Banzai reviews Emergence

So. Watermelon Banzai eh? Lets take a moment to recognise that this blog is a fledgling venture, not that you'd realise upon reading it. If you haven't heard of it yet, don't beat yourself up. But DO check it out. The synthwave community is blessed with a few of these gems in the rough. A blogger/reviewer who is genuinely passionate about the music and articulate enough to express it. Click the image below to link to the blog and remember to support by following on twitter and Facebook too!

(Writers note: I like that I am almost reviewing a reviewer, it's like the hunter becomes the hunted!)

Anyway, enough of this gooey shi.... show of emotion..... Here's what he said about Emergence.

Emergence Ep to finally....Well... Emerge...

So deliberations on how to play the release of this EP have been ongoing for a while. I've been back and forth with Timeslave over number of tracks and format and we're finally settled on something we're all happy with. With April 10th as a release date it's time to hustle to get everything together. Art work looks great but we're just formatting it for cassette sleeves. Mastering is being handled, as I type, by the excellent Jon Thomson AKA Ethereal Delusions AKA Delusional Mastering. There are a few other loose ends to tie up but we're on course.

Two of the six tracks are ones that didn't quite fit into the "Light Our Darkest Hour" EP, so have surfaced here instead. Orion Pax (my personal favourite) is one of the first synth wave tracks I ever wrote but had a facelift recently and now features some epic guitar work by the devilishly quick fingered Dan Hubble. The other three tracks are newly written and a bit different from what I've produced before. I think that they all coalesce nicely into this EP.

I will be putting together a teaser in the next few days. I'm very excited for everyone to hear it.

Keep your ears peeled!

Primorph teams up with Timeslave

I'm proud to announce that I'm teaming up with the good people of Timeslave Recordings to bring you my next EP "Emergence". It is a 6 track double A side record which will release on the 10th April 2017. A limited run of cassettes will be available alongside digital sales. Stay tuned for more details and teasers.
